Dr. Elaine Chan’s Advice on What To Expect from Office Visits
During your first office visit, you will be asked about your health condition, lifestyle, and behavior. As an Acupuncture Doctor, it is important to obtain a complete picture of your treatment needs and behaviors that might have contributed to your condition. Also important, is the need to be informed about all treatments or medications you are taking and all medical conditions you have.
People experience acupuncture differently, but most feel no or minimal pain as the needles are inserted. Some people feel energized by treatment, while others feel relaxed. Acupuncture needles are metallic, solid, and hair-thin.
It is quite wise in feeling confident in being a patient at Shum’s Acupuncture Clinic, that you in fact are seeking treatment from a qualified acupuncture practitioner to insure against improper needle placement, or other defective patterns that could cause soreness and pain during treatment.
Treatment at Shum’s Acupuncture Clinic may take place over a period of several weeks or more.
